Hi there, where can I find the updated Turtle Rock demo for Unity? Thanks.

Just open the scene located at:

SDK\Demo.UnityPlugin\main_unity_project\Assets\unity_main.unity

You need the update to version 3.0.0.6, which I assume you already have. To make sure which Voxel Farm version you have, open Voxel Studio and select About from the main menu.

Can you explain a little bit how you're applying the grass in this demo? I've looked around and can't seem to find where it's defined at.

Thanks

We should have this info online by end of the day tomorrow, it is very similar to how it is done in Unreal:

http://www.voxelfarm.com/doc.html?applying-instances-to-materials

A quick way is to name the planting rule in the material with the same name of the asset used in Unity.

But there is a more elegant way, the team is just finishing the tutorials on this.

Ok great, thank you. Just a suggestion, but I think everyone would be extremely happy to see this happen:

If you guys could download sample images from http://www.pixabay.com (they are royalty free images that you can use for commercial purpose) for your continent creator, and create a full tutorial from start to scratch on creating the continent, adding trees, grass, rocks, so on, using free asset store assets. If you could cover both the Voxel Studio aspect as well as Unity, an all encompassing tutorial, it would do wonders for learning all of the small steps it takes to get a full world up and running.

I've been testing with images, and I can never come up with a good looking continent, or half the time the program just crashes. It's very frustrating trying to get good results, and feels very overwhelming.

Thanks!

If you get a crash, please send us the information. You should definitively not get any crashes. Which program crashes? There is the Voxel Studio tool and there is also the ContinentGenerator tool that runs in the background. For privacy matters, we do not collect any information about your system or crashes that may occur. We rely on user-submitted reports.

If you post any of the images that do not work, maybe we can comment on why these did not produce good results.

We are producing tutorials for these tasks. But there is already a tutorial for the continent generation. If we cover the same topic, just with different images, it may not help.

The problem with that example is it looks like it was for an old version, and only asks for a handful of images compared to the new one which asks for a lot more. For some of the images I'm not sure what it even wants. I've tried googling the biome types, and still struggle to know what some of them are lol. I'll try to create a new project today and record the whole process so you can see which part crashes for me, and the results I'm getting.

Thanks

You are correct, this was taken from the previous version, but the input and overall process is the same. It is asking for fewer images just because of the chosen temperature values, which result in fewer biomes.

Here is a tutorial on how to create one single biome from scratch bypassing the Continent generation wizard:
